The true meaning of christmas

Here we are with just over a week to Christmas and I have started to ask myself what the true meaning of Christmas is? Every year I have celebrated it by buying gifts, eating, drinking and socialising with friends. However this year in particular, I have started thinking about how homeless people celebrated their Christmas. The feeling of being all alone, no one to talk to, no roof over their heads and most of all not knowing where the next meal is coming from.

This December, I have promised myself that I am going to help a homeless shelter provide meals for those who can't afford it. The thought of putting a smile on someone's face for even just a day, surely must be the true meaning of Christmas.
